Last week I was perusing some blogs and I came across Melissa’s, http://melissanevaehjiedyn.blogspot.com/.  It happened to be a Friday, just like today, and each Friday she does a post called Flashback Fridays.  Here are the rules from Melissa’s blog.

So here’s what we do. Every week we dig through our memories- old cell phone pictures, polaroids from 1986, something that you pulled out of a dirty shoe box- and we flashback to it. We show it off, and we write about it.

 

I love this idea for a several reasons.  For one, I take pictures, download them or put them in a box (old school) and rarely look at them again.  Then, on those days where I’m feeling nostalgic, I may pull out some old pictures only to find that I can’t remember anything about the photo.  Luckily, on the pre-digital photos, I would write names and dates and sometimes meticulous details about what was going on.

I thought about what photo I should choose, but I thought it would be more fun to make it random.  My scanner isn’t working right now so I decided to take a picture from the very first album I made on Shutterfly.

This picture was taken at my company Holiday Party in 2005.  This was probably the best company party I had ever been to.  I think the theme was Winter Wonderland or something similar.  There were circus type performers, ice sculptors, living statues, ballet dancers, snow machines and obviously, at least one Sasquatch.  I’m not entirely sure, but some little voice in my head is telling me I approached the Squatch to inquire about the logistics of drinking with a Big Foot costume on and he just grunted at me…you know keeping in character.  I’ll ask some of my past co-workers to confirm.

I plan on continuing with the Flashback Fridays in the future so if your picture is randomly picked (I don’t plan on picking particular pictures, but allowing fate to decide my post). If  you are a friend of mine and I have pictures of you, I’ll try really hard to clear the image with you first.

Did I mention that Melissa lives in Australia?  So I have technically missed her Flashback Friday since it is almost 2:00 pm on Saturday there now.
